Sports/Outdoor Clubs Home

The following clubs promote sport, recreation, and the outdoors and are a great way to get involved in informal activities and make new friends. Stop by the main office in SpC 153for information about when and where clubs are meeting, and get involved!
Clubs are registered student organizations that are self-administered
and run under the direction of club members, advisors, and RSOP. Members benefi t from developing skills in the activity, administration, organization, public relations, marketing, and fund raising. Membership costs vary from club to club.

Outdoor Clubs
Bike Club
For both road and mountain bikers. The bike club is for those
who want to race or just tool around for fun.

Kayak and Canoe Club
Getting wet is everything to this club! Meets weekly at the UMD
Sports and Health Center Pool. This club focuses on working
with everyone to develop paddling skills. Whether you are
interested in kayaking or canoeing, this club is for you.

North Shore Climbers
This club meets Tuesdays from
6 - 9 pm at the Inland Climbing Wall, here at UMD, with the
goal to get people climbing, regardless of their ability, to teach
them the necessary skills, and have fun! They get outside to
climb as often as possible and often take
climbing trips to local and national sites.

Outdoor Educators Club
Helping people teach about the outdoors is what this club is
about. They sponsor the annual Gear Swap and work closely
with RSOP to help with programs and activities.

Wuda Wooch!
Translation: “Into the Outdoors.” Wooch! works to take its
members outdoors to enhance the appreciation of nature and
develop personal skills. If you want to play outside, you want
Wuda Wooch!

Sports Clubs
Alpine Skiing
Provide skiers an opportunity to compete intercollegiately as part of the USCSA.

Badminton
Play and promote the sport of Badminton.

Dance Team
Participate in danceline competitions and promote school spirit by dancing at UMD events.

Dodgeball
For those with energy and good spirits.

Figure Skating
Figure Skating Enjoy ice time to refine your skills and strengthen your competitive edge.

Martial Arts
Teach, learn and refine the skills, ideals and principles that are honored in Martial Arts.

Men’s Hockey
Establish great bonds on the ice while practicing and competing.

Men’s Lacrosse
Promote and expand the sport of lacrosse at UMD as well as all across Minnesota.

Men’s Rugby Football
Build and maintain an alcohol-free, championship caliber rugby squad.

Men’s Soccer
Provide a competitive team for UMD soccer athletes to join.

Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Northern Lights
Promote, compete, practice and play the sport of ultimate competitively.

Men’s Volleyball
Develop a competitive men’s volleyball team and compete in NIVC sanctioned tournaments, and other competitions.

Rowing
Practice in the Lake Superior bay with others that have similar interests and dedication.

Synchronized Skating Team
Provide figure skaters the opportunity to skate through college while being a part of a competitive synchro team.

Table Tennis
Develop discipline, coordination and sportsmanship through the sport of table tennis.

Women’s Ice Hockey
Gets interested students involved in competitive hockey and to compete in a fair and respectful way.

Women’s Lacrosse
Play lacrosse competitively

Women’s Rugby
Provide a friendly atmosphere where students can learn, and participate as a team, in the game of rugby.

Women’s Ultimate Frisbee
Provide women the chance to play organized ultimate frisbee beyond the
intramural level.

Women’s Volleyball
Drills, Play and Compete in area tournaments.

Yoga
Come together to learn and practice yoga.
