Fitness for everyone! Welcome to the new state-of-the-art fitness center. Built just last year, the RSOP Fitness Center contains the latest
cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Highly trained
staff are available to motivate you on how to use the equipment
effectively.

Group Fitness
The group fitness program is for both the UMD and
surrounding community. We offer over 30 classes a week: yoga,
toning, spinning, Pilates, pump and tone, stretch and aqua fit.
There is most likely a class or two that fits your fitness level and
interests. For group fitness pass fees go to page 5.
The first week is FREE! Fitness classes start January 28, 2008
and continue to the end of the semester. Watch for our special
finals week schedule. All of our instructors are nationally
certified and highly motivated.

Weightroom & Cardioroom
Our new fitness center includes a cardio level (upper level, 157 SpHC) and a free weight/selectorized machine level (lower level, 92 SpHC).
The upper level contains expanded cardiovascular equipment including ellipticals, recumbent cycles, upright cycles, steppers, treadmills and rowing machines.  The lower level includes Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and Cybex selectorized machines, as well as a well rounded free weight area. Identification Needed. Facility users must carry the appropriate pass at all times. Hours are subject to change by program need.

Indoor Quadrathalon
Sunday, February 24, 11am
Join us for a cardiovascular challenge. Ten minutes on each
machine for distance: upright bike, treadmill, rowing machine
and stepper. Top combined distance wins.
Cost: $10 UMD Students/$15 Others

Spring Into Shape 5K Trail Run
Saturday, April 26th 10am
Everyone is welcome to join us for this annual 5K (3.1 mile)
trail run in the Bagley Nature Area.
Cost: $12 UMD Students/ $15 Others
You must register by 2pm April 24 to guarantee a t-shirt.
Race day registration is welcome (at Bagley).

North American Rowing Challenge (N.A.R.C)
Join us as we compete with teams across the North America for
meters rowed on our Concept2 Indoor Rowers. A team event
that starts March 15th and runs through April 15th in which
you can row as many meters as you want, the more meters
rowed, the better! All of the meters rowed are logged into an
online log book provided by Concept2. Come join our “team”
and get a free shirt for signing up!
Cost: $12 for holders of facilities passes
You must register by March 10th to guarantee a shirt.

Personal Training
Let us motivate and educate you! The personal training
program is for all skill levels and abilities. Whether you are
running a 1/2 marathon, desiring to lose 30 pounds or wanting
to strengthen your sore back, personal training is one of the
best ways to achieve those ends. Kinesis is a strength training
cocept that develops functional strength, burns body fat and
improves range of motion.
A typical personal training session may include:
• 10-minute warm-up on stationary bike
• 30-minute specific body-toning workout with weights
• 10 minute cool down and stretch.
Your session could conclude with a 10-20 minute conversation
about your personal nutrition plan.
Your certified trainer will assure that your workouts are done
with your personal goals in mind.
Cost: $20/session for Facility Pass holders ($30 for all others
- community welcome!) Three session minimum.

Tri Team
A summer program. Tri Team is a coached, group-training program for anyone age 18 and up desiring to improve skills and fitness in swimming, biking, running and strength training.  Beginners to experienced welcome. 
-A typical weekly workout:
Monday, Tuesday (swim 45-60 min, run 45 min, stretch and strength training) Wednesday (road bike for 60 min, strength train 30 min, stretch)
Thursday (run and open water swim)
- Meet: Outside of the UMD RSOP Office,153 SpHC. We will utilize the trails and roads around the UMD Campus and greater Duluth area. Swimming will be in the UMD pool and local lakes.

Looking for a little relief from the stress of the day. Call now for
to set up a massage appointment. All therapists are nationally
certified and highly skilled.

Kinesis
Our new state-of-the-art strength training machine for all skill levels. We offer two options for meeting with a certified trainer. You must be with a certified trainer to work out on this equipment.

Option I (30 minute Kinesis sessions)

  • Join one of our fixed times or set up your own time with a group of
    3-4. Each session is 30 minutes long
  • These sessions run for 4 weeks.
  • Cost: $50/ person ($60 for non-pass holders) for a 4-week session (must have at least 3 people to make it happen)

Option II (One hour personal training sessions using Kinesis for half of the session)

  • We offer solo, 2-person and groups of 3-4 person rates.
  • This hour session allows each client a 30 minute Kniesis workout along with 30 minutes of stretching, nutrition counseling, etc.
  • Solo cost: $20 ($30 for non pass holders)
  • 2-person cost: $30/group ($40 for non pass holders)
  • 3-4 person cost: $45/group (or $60 for non pass holders) This cost is for the whole group, so having 4 persons is more economical
