to learn and discover the rivers and lakes in our region or practice
new found skills with experienced leaders.
Kayaking in the Pool , Exploring Lake Superior and Running Rivers with the UMD Kayak & Canoe Club Membership
Here's your chance to develop whitewater paddling skills in a warm, comfortable setting with knowledgeable instructors. The UMD Kayak and Canoe Club Members work together to refine skills and then head out to local paddling spots.
Thursday Pool Sessions 9-11pm January 19 - May 3
We Provide: Paddling Gear, Instruction You Provide: Swimsuit, Towel Meet: SpHC Pool Cost: Your first session is FREE! Thereafter Spring Semester Dues are $25 UMD Students / $40 Others.
Midway River Club Trip
We will put in at the Midway River (Class I-II+) for an amazing day of introdctory river skills with friendly trained instructors. River run- ning skills are required, and demonstrated to Kayak and Canoe Club officials before the trip. Saturday, April 7, 10am-6pm
(Alternate day Friday, April 13 if ice out is late) Free for UMD Kayak & Canoe Club Members
Knive River Club Trip
This will be the feature white water trip planned for the spring semester before finals come. You will be able to develop your white water skills while paddling I-III rapids on the Knife River. River running skills are required, and demon- strated before the trip.

Spring Thaw Duluth Waterfront Tour 205009
Join us for a great afternoon of paddle through ice flows as the big lake begins to break up for summer. Open to all skill levels. A tandem or solo sea kayak will be selected for use based on each paddlers previous kayaking experience. Saturday, April 14, 1-5pm

Brule River Canoeing 205012
Be among the first to enjoy the spring thaw as we canoe the beautiful waters of the Brule River in northwestern Wisconsin. You will enjoy a fun day trip on the Brule, where you can brush up on your paddling skills and learn about river ecology and hydrology. Prior paddling skills are helpful, but not required. Carving a Greenland Style Kayak Paddle 205007
Take a 2x4 piece of lumber, some simple shop tools, and a few hours of labor and you too can add the narrow bladed Greenland paddle to your collection. Learn the history, the paddling benefits, and the methods used to build your own paddle.

Greenland Sea Kayak Skills Clinic 205013
Come see why so many folks are using Green- land paddles these days. Learn traditional Greenland paddling, bracing and rolling tech- niques in the comfort of our pool. Bring your paddle or use one of ours.
